With the month of October just around the corner all the amusement parks are gearing up for my favorite holiday, Halloween. This includes the San Diego Sea World who is currently prepping for their Spooktacular. A calendar of events and activities will be posted at a later date. Any further Halloween ideas and suggestions are welcome!

Playtown, Westfield Mall, Carlsbad, CA

Inside the Westfield Plaza Camino Real Mall on the first level next to Sears is a fun play area for the young ones to romp around. There are four coin operated vehicles, a couple built in puzzle like games, and a few small structures to climb on. I like that this area is partially enclosed with a bench seating area for the parents. If your children are a little older they may enjoy playing some video games at the neighboring arcade. In addition if you actually trust them and feel they are self sufficient you could drop them at the arcade with a roll of quarters, and enjoy a pedicure at the nail salon. Insider tip: Be sure to go upstairs and explore Comics-N-Stuff and the pet shop with your children. I also recommend the carousel, Kidville, and The Disney Store on the opposite end of the mall. Amazingly I was able to capture this photo while chasing my toddler on our visit to the San Clemente Pier! Again this is a great spot to take the little ones, or enjoy happy hour with a few of your closest friends.
